Why open Telegram Web in your browser

Choosing to open Telegram Web in your browser is the fastest way to use Telegram on a computer you don't own or can't install apps on. There's nothing to download and no admin rights required — the entire messenger loads as a web page, complete with your cloud chats, channels and media.

How to sign in with a QR code

  1. Open the web app. Press the Open button above — Telegram Web launches in a new browser tab, no download needed.
  2. Scan the QR code. In your phone app go to Settings → Devices → Link Desktop Device and scan the code on screen.
  3. Start chatting. Your cloud chats load instantly. Everything you send appears on your phone and other devices too.

Web A, Web K and the PWA

Telegram offers two official web clients — Web A and Web K — with slightly different layouts. Both use the same account and sync instantly. On Chrome or Edge you can install Telegram Web as a Progressive Web App so it opens in its own window and even shows notifications like a native app.

When to use the browser instead of the desktop app

The browser version is perfect for quick access, borrowed laptops and locked-down office PCs. If you're on your own machine and want shortcuts, tray icons and offline media, install the Windows desktop app or Telegram for macOS instead.

Staying safe on shared computers

Always log out when you finish on a public computer, and periodically review connected sessions under Settings → Devices. For deeper protection, enable two-step verification on your account.
